Here is a review of our week:
We wrote letters to the North Pole last week asking for an Elf to join our class. It looks like our wishes were granted because Monday morning an elf was on our word wall. Throughout the week we have joyful came in each morning looking for our new classmate. He has kept a watchful eye on each one of us and continues to remind us to be responsible, respectful, and safe at school. (Picture below!)

We continued our poetry unit this week with the poem Winter

the tune of Jingle Bells. We even got to sing it for Miss. Wyse the music
teacher. She was very impressed!
Winter’s here,
winter’s here
time to hibernate.
Big black bear is in
his lair
sleeping until late.
Rabbits, bats,
badgers, skunks
they are resting too.
Snuggled deep and
fast asleep
till spring begins anew!
Math
We continued our numbers unit this week. This week we worked on
finding and reading the number 15. We also searched our classroom for the
number 15. We also continued practicing sequencing numbers from 1-20 through
various games. We continue counting by 10s to 100. This week we played games
with more than and less than. We learned the “alligator” (< or >) also
wants to eat the bigger number. At math
centers we also started working on place value. This is a tricky concept, but
we will continue to focus more on it next week. Next week we will also review
missing numbers from 1-20.
