Reading

This week we the story Tools. It was a nonfiction book about different tools around the world. Before we started reading we thought tools were only going to be things you find in a tool box (hammer, screwdriver, etc.) After reading the story though we learned that we use tools all day long. Ask us what tools we used today.

We continued our poetry unit this week with the poem Under the Rainbow

First comes the rain cloud passing by
Dropping raindrops in my eye!
Then comes the sunshine up so high

Now a rainbow in the sky!

Our weekly reader this week was all about Wind!

Math

In math we continued working with measurement. We measured how tall and how long (wide) leprechauns were in math centers. We also learned the vocabulary words weight, heavy, and light. Then we compared objects around the room and had to use our Kindergarten math words to describe the objects (no big or little allowed!). In math we also continue to practice our addition and subtration facts. Please work on these with us over the break. We only have to know facts 1-5 however anything more is great. For example we would do have to know 1+5 in kindergarten because the answers is more than the number 5, but many of us can practice these anyways because we know the pattern of adding one. Any questions please ask.

If you are leaving for a trip be safe and have lots of fun. If you are staying home like me remember to take time to relax. I will see everyone April 7th!
