Reading
Each of us continues to practice our reading skills during our daily 5 rotations. WE are seeing great progress in all areas. Please continue practicing reading stories at home. If your child is not comfortable reading the whole story ask them to point out some of their popcorn words while reading.

We continued our poetry unit this week with the poem "Spring Celebration." Each week we work on learning the words in our poems. We also make up "dance" moves on Thursdays to celebrate learning the words.
Spring Celebration
Tune: Ta Ra Ra Boom De Ai

Finally it is spring,
warm weather it will bring.
Flowers will start to bloom,
fills us with sweet perfume.

Days will get longer still,
birds on my windowsill.
Puffy clouds float on by,

kites fly up in the sky.

Our weekly reader this week was all about saving sea turtles by throwing our trash away and recycling to keep plastic bags and other garbage out of the oceans.

Math

In math we finished our measurement and data unit. This week we used "meatballs" and "bees" to measure objects around the room. We also had a contest to see who could get thier bunny to hop the farthest. WE measured the distance the bunny hopped using snap cubes. The farthest distance we had was 44 cubes and the shortest distance we had was 6 cubes.

Next week we will begin reviewing addition and subtraction until the end of the school year.
