Reading
This week we the story On The Go. It was a nonfiction book about how people travel and move things around the world. Also in reading his week we focused on plants. We connected a lot of science in with our learning this week. In the beginning of the week we listed things that we knew about plants. Our ideas were very vague and generic.

Plants have leaves.
They grow.
We plant seeds in the spring so they can bloom in summer (our most detailed background knowledge)

By the end of the week our "new learning" list consisted of

Sunflowers can have up to 1000 seeds.
Vegetables, fruits, flowers, and trees can all be types of plants.
Plants help us to breathe and we help them breathe.
The meaning of germination and photosynthesis.

I am so proud of their new learnings!

We continued our poetry unit this week with the poem "Plant Song"

Our weekly reader this week was all about growing plants.

Math

In math we continued working with measurement and data. After measuring and sorting different object saw e would use the data to make graphs and charts. We also connected math into our plant discovery. We voted for our favorite types of plants. Our data collected was 1 tree as a favorite, 1 vegetable, 8 flowers, and 10 fruit plants. We also showed our data collection through tally marks.

Next week we will finish our measurement unit and move into our addition and subtraction review unit.
