Reading
This week we read two non fiction books. The first book was A Day with a Doctor and the second book was A Day with a Mail Carrier. In each book we learned how these specific people help others in by performing their jobs. The students compared the two professions and books with their peers. Our new vocabulary words this week were healthy, prevent, load, and important.

We continued our poetry unit this week with the poem Luck of the Irish to the tune of This Old Man. We even got to sing it for Miss. Wyse (the music teacher).

Leprechaun, Leprechaun
You play your tricks and then you run
to the rainbow's end
where you stash your pot of gold
there is fortune, I've been told!

Our weekly reader this week was all about The City and The Country!

We practiced following directions with a leprechaun drawing. Check them out below.

Math

In math we practiced solving addition and subtraction sentences by playing several different games. We continued solving math sentences (all subtraction) in the stamping center. We also played a game "Fish out of Water." During this game we had to solve math problems on a card, if we got the problem wrong we had to put the card back. If we got it correct we got to keep the card. If we pulled a fish, we lost a fish from our tank. Another game we played was called Dunk it Dominoes. This week we did addition with this game (added the two sides of a domino and then dunked it into a cup) Next week however we will use this game to practice subtraction.
